Graffiti Throughout Detroit
This picture clearly written "METH" is talking about a drug.
I don't think that it is necessary for someone to write about a drug on a wall of a building. What is the point of that? What good is it doing the community? It isn't doing the community any good, it is just letting people see this and read the word. For people that do not know about drugs, they may become aware of it through this. They could go home and look this up on the internet and gain information that they didn't necessarily need to know.
In this picture, it looks as though this might have once been or could possibly still be a train station or just the tracks for the train. When the train goes by this wall the people aboard see all of this graffiti all over the walls which may turn them off about the area they are entering. They may think that there are people who don't like the neighborhood enough to keep it nice. The trash all over the ground kind of adds to the bad look of the area.

Graffiti
I find graffiti intriguing. It must take a lot of skill to be able to create such original pieces of work. Although graffiti is illegal, I think that the people who have made the art needs to be encouraged to find other ways to display their talent. It may be better for them to have a designated area, such as a building created for inside graffiti, and that way they are not defacing the buildings around the area.
As stated in the article, some people may use graffiti as a way to express how they feel about a subject. There are often pieces of graffiti pointing one someones hatred toward a specific topic, such as Jews in the article. The author of the graffiti wanted to let people know how he or she feels about the topic of Jews.
Yes, graffiti exists, and I don't think that it will ever go away. People use it as a way to express themselves and it may help some people with pain they are suffering from. Detroit has graffiti, as do mostly every big city in the country and possibly the world.
